Manaslu Circuit Trek

Overview

Bordering Annapurna Conservation Area to the west and Tibetan plateau in the north and east, the area was opened to the foreign tourist since 1991 only. A complete circuit around the Manaslu(8163m), the 8th highest peak in the world is known for its unique blend of cultural heritages, religious practice and antique lifestyle.

This three week trek begins with the full day drive from Kathmandu to Arughat. The walk starts following the mighty Budhi Gandaki River in the northwards. As we continue the trek the gorge becomes steeper and narrowed making the walk even more challenging through the villages on the either side of the valley. Soon, the valley widens up to the astonishing alpine pasture with small Tibetan style villages in the lap of dramatic north face of Manaslu. From the village of Samagon the trail climbs up to Larkya La pass (5213m) which offers the panoramic view of Hiunchuli, Manaslu, Cheo and Himlung Himal. From the pass the trail descents through the alpine meadows to Bimthang before joining main Annapurna Circuit route at Besisahar.

To complete the walk of Manaslu circuit, one should be physically and mentally strong. Though the trek is organized by highly experienced professional, one should properly acclimatize to get used with the rising altitude.

Lower Dolpo Trek

Make a rendezvous with the remote Himalaya Mountains of Dolpo, the land of the Oscar nominated Caravan fame, Thinley, a culture nearby Tibet that has survived its originality for centuries. Thanks to the reportage of National Geographic Fame Eric Valli, the Dolpo region of Nepal has been shown in all its integrity and full mystical experience. Along with one of the deepest Himalayan Lakes, the Phokhsundo with beautiful turquoise blue water, watch the yak caravans that maintain the traditional salt trade with Tibet. The region lies further north from the Dhaulagiri Range in the rain shadow of the Himalayas – reflected in the colorful barren slopes of the mountains where the play of light and shadow is a perpetual fascinating spectacle. In summer, the caravans of yaks and sheep run through this valley on a trade route through the Himalayas and allows the exchange not only goods but also of ideas between the Tibetan Plateau and the valleys of Nepal.

The Lower Dolpo Trek is meant for real adventurers wishing for an off-the-beaten-path experience. This remote region in western Nepal was opened for the foreigners only in 1990. The trek passes through Shey-Phoksundo National Park with spectacular mountain scenery, Buddhist monasteries and yak caravans. Our trek takes us through a wooded area, then load through rugged canyons in the barren plateau near the border with Tibet. After your arrival in Kathmandu, make a historical and cultural tour of Kathmandu valley and monuments while we obtain special permit for the lower Dopla trekking. Then we take our flight to Jhupal via Nepalgunj. Experience the high altitude tundra and rocks and the microclimate of Lower Dolpo and Phoksumdo with the cold air of the glaciers of Kanjiroba.

The Langtang Valley Trek is the most famous trekking route in the Langtang Region. This trek provides you the beautiful views of the Langtang Valley, Langtang Lirung, The Yala peak and the rich wilderness route of the Langtang Region. Interacting with people of Tamang ethnicity here is like sharing the best Buddhist culture anywhere in the world. All these prime factors together form up a trekking package known as Langtang Valley Trek.

This valley which is a tourism site is the closest to the Kathmandu Valley. It is also known as the valley of glaciers. The valley is formed by pine forests, ever flowing mountain streams, rugged rough rocks, snow-capped hills and green meadows sprinkled with beautiful flowers and animals. Just after stepping into the Langtang Valley, you get a heavenly essence of being alive and feel lucky enough to have this opportunity of capturing the flawless view around.

Trekking just after monsoon here lets you view the silver bright snow-capped peak known as Langtang Lirung [7,246m]. Beside the mountain views, the spot also allows viewing of beautiful birds and animals. They just add a live flavour to the artistic design of nature. The name of the valley comes from a legendary story which describes as a Lama who discovered this valley while following this place with a Yak along. Lang is the Tibetan term for Yak and Tang means to follow. This two words together form up the name Langtang.

It is recommended that you stay a few more days than planned and explore the beautiful glacier scenes around. Finally we return back to Kathmandu crossing the famous holy lake known as Gosainkunda.
